Kevin Ducker
Kevin Ducker is an outstanding Advanced Skills Teacher in English and Media Studies and has worked in various inner-city London schools. He was educated at Plaistow Grammar School in the east end of London where he gained a C grade in GCE English Language and half a GCE in Spoken English.
He left London soon after, joined the army and was promptly posted back to London.
In the mid-90s he attended the University of East London and got a First Class degree in English and Media, then went to Birkbeck College and studied for a Masters degree in Victorian Literature and History.
He advises schools on teaching and learning, curriculum design and behaviour management, has written articles for the TES magazine and academic journals and is currently researching a book on ‘Leading from the Bottom'.
Kevin’s expertise is in getting the very best out of difficult to reach pupils, particularly white working class boys. He is able to obtain results and respect from this hardest to reach group of students that are unheard of anywhere else. Kevin’s message is that you can achieve, no matter what your background, and his own back story is evidence of this fact. He is a markedly intelligent speaker who combines academic brilliance with a down to earth understanding of the students he teaches, and what motivates them.
